Business Engagement Models

Star Knowledge’s customer project governance and software deliverable success is enabled with dedicated professional project management and quality assurance resources.

Fixed Price Project

This Model is Ideal for customer projects that have well-defined business and technical requirements, lack of appropriate customer technical knowledge and resources, and need for rapid development.

This Model provides completion of a custom software development project within a Statement of Work (SOW) including fixed scope, approach, and schedule at a fixed price. Project lifecycle changes are permissible with jointly approved Change Orders. Project deliverables are formally accepted by customer within a User Acceptance Test (UAT), with personalized test scripts.

Time & Material (T&M)

This Model Is favorable for customer projects in the initial stage of software design and development where specifications have not yet been clearly defined and baselined. It is also used by organizations with multifaceted projects prone to continual specification and design changes during the project.

In this Model, customers pay for the actual resources employed in achieving their software development requirements. Project fees are calculated as an hourly rate based on the technical environment and approach, type, level and the number of technical resources required. All work is documented within consultant time sheets that require joint approval with a customer as a prerequisite to invoicing. All out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses and other direct project expenditures are reimbursable expenses.

Customer Dedicated Development Facility

This Model is an extension of the customer’s In-house software development activities. The facility provides a cost-effective solution to customers’ requiring continuous offshore development and support activities. This Model establishes an off-site development and support activity for the customer-tailored to the specific business and technical needs of a customer with a dedicated Star Knowledge consultant team set-up and approved by the customer.

Payment is a monthly retainer fee calculated on an agreed level and size of staffing and service.

All time and effort expended in excess of the monthly agreement are billed at an agreed hourly rate. All work is documented within consultant timesheets that require joint approval with customer as prerequisite to invoicing All out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses and other direct project expenditures are reimbursable expenses.

Resource-on-Demand (ROD)

This Model provides customers a cost-effective and high-quality software development and support environment to support staffing small (as measured in hours and days) but vital departmental software projects, with time-sensitive end-customer production requirements. Key value of ROD Services is to provide customers with finite technical resources, a ‘go-to’ technical team with appropriate resources to immediately handle unanticipated software business spikes and other critical technical needs.

ROD Services are SLA-based, no minimum project size with completion in hours or days, offered and highly-competitive hourly rates. Deliverables include quality code, documentation, installation, and e-training.

In this Model, customers pay for the actual ROD resources employed for their software support needs. Project fees are calculated as an hourly rate based on the technical environment and approach, type, level and the number of technical resources required. All work is documented within consultant timesheets that require joint approval with the customer as a prerequisite to invoicing. All out-of-pocket expenses for software licenses and other direct project expenditures are reimbursable expenses.

Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Model

The BOT Model set-ups and manages a customer offshore software development and support facility for a pre-determined time period and upon termination transfers facility registration, to the customer, with establishment of an Indian subsidiary.

BUILD: Set-up the offsite (offshore) facility and infrastructure, staff the development center, and establish knowledge transfer.

OPERATE: Manage the offshore organization: Program Management, Development, QA, maintenance, enhancements, and product support.

TRANSFER: Register a new offshore subsidiary for the customer, transfer assets, and handover operations.

BOT Benefits

BOT offers attractive business benefits over the traditional offshore subsidiary path, including:

Rapid scaling of operations

Wider service offerings, quickly filling business model gaps

Lower infrastructure set-up costs

Reduced time to operations through the utilization of knowledgeable 3rd party management and technical resources
